Tai-Heng Cheng

Professor Tai-Heng Cheng is an expert in international law and international arbitration. 
 
His book, State Succession and Commercial Obligations, received acclaim in law reviews and practitioners' journals. His next book, The Revival of International Law, is forthcoming in 2009 by Oxford University Press. 
 
Professor Cheng is actively involved in international arbitrations. He has served as arbitrator on a three-person tribunal under ICC rules and has advised law firms and corporations in disputes governed by ICC, LMAA, UNCITRAL and CIETAC rules. He is also a member of the ICDR Panel of Neutrals.
 
He is an Honorary Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association, member of the Academic Council of Institute for Transnational Arbitration, Charter Member of the foreign policy organization Network 2020, guest professor at Sarah Lawrence College, member of the Standing Committee on International Commercial Disputes Resolution and the Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (ABCNY), and Special Counsel to the Special Committee on the Bar Examination of the New York State Bar Association. He previously served on the United Nations and International Law Committees of the ABCNY.
 
He has given presentations at the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on International Relations, the United Nations, and Yale Law School.
 
Professor Cheng was formerly associated with Simpson
Thacher & Bartlett, LLP, and also previously advised the Singapore Police Force and the Prosecutor-General of the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor.
