Project Description and Background:
• A $190 million expansion and renovation of the school’s TriBeCa campus to begin on August 1, 2006 and scheduled to be completed in 2010.
• A two-phased project that comprises 216,000 square feet of a new construction and 150,000 of renovations to three existing building that will result in a highly functional complex and an attractive a new physical identity for the School
• The new building will contain classrooms, student spaces, and the law library, organized by a generous lounge/circulation space that runs along a 5-level, 200-foot glass façade. Directly facing West Broadway and the Franklin Street subway entrance, this transparent envelope will both enclose the space and display to the outside the high degree of activity taking place within.
• The new wing will also offer a large auditorium and multipurpose space, allowing NYLS to host a wide variety of events. This new and significant opportunity to interact on-site with alumni, members of the legal community and the public will underscore the School’s fundamental mission of outreach, participation and exchange.
• Phase 2 renovations to the three buildings on Worth Street will create innovative facilities for faculty and students, supporting the School’s new centers for advanced scholarship and research.
• Construction of the new building is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2008, and renovations to existing buildings in the spring of 2010.
