The Office of Marketing and Communications (formerly the Office of Public Affairs) would like to inform members of the community of ways they can publicize their events.

WebEvent Calendar

WebEvent, the comprehensive calendar of New York Law School events on the Law School's Web site, is becoming an increasingly important resource for the entire Law School community. All departments, programs, and student organizations are encouraged to add their important dates to this calendar.

Following is the procedure for adding an event to Web Event:

Access the calendar at www.nyls.edu/calendar. On the main calendar page, there is a gold button, "Add Event." Click on that button and fill in the information for your meeting or event. Note that the form offers options such as scheduling repeat meeting dates with that single form. Leave the category as "unspecified." Make sure to use your Law School e-mail address where requested. After you click "submit," the event will not appear immediately; it will first be reviewed by the Office of Marketing and Communications. If the submission is incomplete or has other problems, Marketing and Communications will contact you directly.

This Week at New York Law School

This Week is an official Law School publication issued every Monday by Marketing and Communications. The publication accepts news, general announcements, administrative notices, and event announcements from faculty, staff, students, and student organizations. Information from bar associations and other law-related organizations that may be of interest to the Law School community are published at the discretion of the editor.

This Week does not publish personal or editorial comments, business advertisements, or notices that are inconsistent with Law School policies.

Members of the community are reminded that in order to preserve This Week's news value to students, its content must remain fresh and items are not repeated more than twice following their initial publication.

Deadline for Submissions: Noon on Thursday Prior to Week of Publication

Submissions are due by noon on Thursday prior to the week of publication. Faculty and staff may submit notices directly to the Office of Marketing and Communications by e-mail to thisweek@nyls.edu; student organizations should submit their notices to the Office of Student Life at cshields@nyls.edu by noon on Monday for publication the following Monday, or noon on the Friday before if Monday is a holiday.

Elevator Posters

If you would like an elevator poster for your event, please fill out a creative services request form at http://www.nyls.edu/pages/1685.asp. After the poster has been designed and approved by you, Marketing and Communications will schedule it for placement in the elevators. There is no absolute rule for how far a poster goes up in advance of the event date, or how long it stays up—posters are scheduled taking into account various factors, such as how many other posters need to go up in the same week, and prominence of the event or announcement.

Marketing and Communications would like to remind the community that the elevator poster slots are reserved for official administrative posters. Flyers should be posted only on bulletin boards and not on poster slots, windows, doors, or walls.

Please contact the Office of Marketing and Communications at 212.431.2872 with any questions.
