For Administrative Personnel and Full Time Faculty

Human Resources is pleased to advise you of a new benefit we are providing to NYLS employees; the employee Assistance Program (EAP).  Each of us, regardless of our position, faces a variety of problems in our daily lives.  Sometimes our problems affect our personal happiness, our family relations, our performance at work, and even our health.  The employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides information, assessment, crisis intervention, short-term counseling and referral for a range of problems that may include family matters, financial concerns, child and eldercare or personal growth transition.

The EAP is confidential and is provided by an independent organization located outside of the law school.

To provide this benefit, New York Law School has retained the services of the Employee Development Center (EDC) a division of the Cornell University Medical College, with nearly twenty years of experience in anticipating and meeting the needs of working people.  You may contact them by calling (212) 935-3030; outside of New York City use (800) 327-9092 to make an appointment with a professional.

There is no cost to you or your immediate family (which can include, siblings, spouse, partner, parents -- any questions about eligibility please contact Kevin Hauss or Jody Pariante in our Human Resource office) for services received at the EAP.  However, if EDC refers you to an outside resource for further consultation, that outside organization will bill you for their services.  Of course you may be able to use the applicable benefits provided by the health plans in which you are enrolled to defray costs.  Any costs for family members not covered under your benefits plan would then be the responsibility of that individual or individuals.

The reputation of the EDC is outstanding.  Their office is located at 136 East 57th Street, 4th Floor, New York.  Jeffrey Emil Diaz is the Director.  He has over 25 years of experience in the EAP field.

Please be advised that New York Law School has no connection to EDC, will not be privy to the names of employees who take advantage of these services and assumes no responsibility for the services provided by EDC.  Our only role has been to contract with EDC to provide these services to those of you who may be interested.
