The Premium TransitChek Program is an employee benefit program that allows you to set aside money, on a pre-tax and post-tax basis for commuting expenses up to certain federal limits.  Commuting expenses includes taking the train, bus, ferry and/or commuter parking.  When you pay for your commute with before tax salary you save money on the taxes you would normally pay.

The Premium TransitChek offers you the following options:

  • The Transit QuickPay Card - a VISA debit card issued by the Bank of America that works just like a debit or credit card. You can use both pretax and post-tax dollars to pay for your entire commute.  It's easy and convenient if  you use MTA NYC Transit or already have a Mail & Ride, MAIL-TIK or MAIL-Fare account with the MTA Long Island Rail Road, MTA Metro-North Railroad, NJ TRANSIT, PATH, or Hoboken Ferry.

  • Annual Premium TransitChek MetroCard - Available for employees that use MTA NYC Transit subway and local buses or any other MetroCard-equipped local buses in the NY metro area.  The annual Card allows unlimited ride, seven days a week, all year long.  If you lose the card, don't worry, replacement cards are provided to ensure continuation of your benefit.

  • TransitChek CashBack - For those transit or parking operators that do not accept the debit/credit card.  This specialized cash reimbursement service enables you to use your pretax dollars to pay for mass transit, vanpool, and parking expenses.

  • TransitChek Vouchers - Can be used like cash to pay for tickets or passes on participating transit and eligible vanpool services.  They come in a variety of denominations and are redeemable at station windows only.

You will receive your benefit in the mail, usually a week before the month in which your benefit starts.
