Security Arrangements, Entrance Procedures, and Disabled Access for Events at New York Law School
- The official entrance for visitors to New York Law Schools is located at 47 Worth Street.
- For events or meetings at which fewer than 25 visitors are expected, a list of attendees should be submitted to George Hayes, Assistant Vice President for Safety & Security. This information must be submitted directly to Mr. Hayes not later than two hours before the start of the event.
- For events or meetings at which more than 25 visitors are expected, a registration table can be set up near the 47 Worth Street entrance, near the entry area for the Shepard Broad Student Center lounge. (A request for a registration table should be included on the Event/Meeting Form.) This table must be staffed by the department or office hosting the event. A nametag or other form of identification should be distributed to each visitor as he/she enters.
- If public officials or other high-profile visitors are expected to attend an event--particularly when accompanied by local, state, federal, or private security--an indication should be noted on the Event/Meeting Form, so that Law School security staff will be informed.
Disabled Access:
New York Law School facilities have accommodations for physically challenged persons. All public spaces are accessible and several rest rooms have been designed for the ambulatory disabled.
If a visitor notifies the hosting department or office that s/he is a physically challenged person, this must be noted on the Event/Meeting Form, so that Law School security staff can be alerted and prepared to provide assistance with access to the facilities.
Visitors who are physically challenged will also require evacuation assistance, in case of emergency. When planning an event or meeting that outside visitors will attend, you should ask visitors to indicate whether they would require assistance during an emergency evacuation of the buildings. If the answer is "yes", ask what type of assistance they would require. After this information has been collected, contact the Assistant Vice President for Safety & Security, so that the visitor's needs can be incorporated into a personal evacuation plan, and this plan can be reviewed with the visitor, the event/meeting host, and all security staff on duty. Please provide this information to Safety & Security well in advance of the event.
