What do we write about when we write about law? Complex, convoluted, and just plain unclear, law can be exasperating and often difficult to explain. Yet explain we do -- from academics to journalists to bloggers who write about it every day, trying to explicate a challenging subject to an audience with a short attention span.

This past February, the Program in Law & Journalism and the New York Law School Law Review proudly co-sponsored a symposium on writing about the law. The day-long program included presentations on everything from the structure and future of legal scholarship to the increasing appetite of the mainstream media and American public for all things legal. Although the law can be maddening, the presentations were not. Lively, informed, energetic, and extremely relevant.
