Important Information for Our Physically-Challenged Guests:
If you will be attending Commencement and you or a member of your party is physically-challenged, please take note of the following important information about seating policies at Avery Fisher Hall:
-
Physically-challenged guests who would like priority access to the auditorium will be required to enter at the EAST gate in the lobby of Avery Fisher Hall.
-
Each physically-challenged guest will be permitted priority access to the Hall with ONLY ONE other member of her/his party. Remaining members of the party should gather in the designated area outside the EAST GATE, and they will be given second priority access to the Hall. Physically-challenged guests will NOT be permitted early entrance to the Hall with more than ONE other person.
-
The auditorium will not be open for access by anyone until 9:30 a.m. Physically-challenged guests will be admitted early to the auditorium entry area, on the second floor of Avery Fisher Hall, so that they have first access to the auditorium when it opens at 9:30 a.m.
-
Seats in the auditorium may be held by members of the party who have the earliest access to the auditorium.
-
Wheelchair areas at Avery Fisher Hall are located in the REAR of the auditorium ONLY. Guests who enter with wheelchairs and move into regular seats will be required to have their wheelchairs stored in the entry area of the Hall.
-
Wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers are not permitted to remain in the Hall during the event. They must be brought to the entry area of the Hall and retrieved at the end of the ceremony.
Please note that these policies are administered by the management of Avery Fisher Hall, not New York Law School. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jimena Buitrago in the Office of Alumni Relations (jbuitrago@nyls.edu).
