Framing the Debate:
On Wednesday, November 7 2007, the Justice Action Center held the last in this year's Justice Speaks Lunch Series. Professor Richard Marsico moderated as our guest Srinu Sonti discussed how politicians frame and shape the issues for potential voters and their constituents. Mr. Sonti explored a variety of issues, including healthcare for children, the war in Iraq, the upcoming 2008 election, and the battle between political parties for popular support.
Lunch was provided to all attendees.
Srinu Sonti is currently the research director for Senator Harry Reid (D-NV). As part of his duties, Mr. Sonti works with the communications team in disseminating legislation, policy, and other government data to outside groups, reporters, etc. His various duties include drafting research documents, writing briefing memos, and preparing the senator for media appearences.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Sonti was the deputy research director for the Chris Dodd for President campaign. There he managed the day to day research for the campaign, drafted debate preperation documents, and conducted rapid media response as needed. Prior to that, he was a researcher during the 2006 campaign cycle for a 527 group called the Senate Majority Project. It was a small organization that ran ads and pushed earned media on incumbent Republican Senators.
Mr. Sonti receved his BA from the University of Wisconsin in 1997 and his law degree from New York Law School in 2000. He is a proud ex-student and research assistant of Nadine Strossen.
