Q: How do I obtain a letter verifying my enrollment status for health insurance purposes?

 

A: You can obtain a letter indicating your enrollment status by submitting a request for a “Certificate of Attendance” using the “General Request Form” located outside of the Registrar’s Office.

 

 

Q: How do I obtain a copy of my NYLS transcript?

 

A: You may obtain a copy of your transcript by simply completing and submitting a “Transcript Request Form” available outside of the Registrar’s Office or online on our website. This form can be submitted to the Registrar’s Office via fax (212-343-2137), online via the intranet or in person.

 

 

Q: What is the cost of a transcript?

 

A: Our transcripts are cheap! The fee for obtaining a copy of your transcript is $2 if you are a current student and free if you have graduated from NYLS.

 

 

Q: Can I obtain a PDF copy of my transcript?

 

A: Yes, you sure can. The Registrar’s Office can send you a PDF version of your unofficial transcript with just a simple request. Be sure to provide us with a valid e-mail address. 

 

 

Q: Can I access my transcript on EZ Info?

 

A: Your transcript is available on EZ Info. However, if you are forwarding this information to a potential employer for example, we recommend that you submit a transcript request to the Registrar’s Office in such instances. Your transcript on EZ Info will show all you academic information but the format is more suited for viewing than for official purposes.

 

 

 

Q: What is the turn around time for transcripts and letters?

 

A: All requests for transcripts and letters are processed within a 24 hour period.

 

 

Q: When will I know my class rank?

 

A: All students are ranked within their class at the end of each academic year i.e. at the end of two semesters, four semesters, and six semesters for full-time students and in addition, at the end of eight semesters for part-time and evening students. At the end of the academic year, you will be able to view your current rank on your EZ Info account.

 

 

Q: Can I be ranked at the end of the fall semester or receive an adjusted rank if I took summer courses?

 

A: No. Class ranks are only given at the end of the academic year (the spring semester).

 

 

Q: Who do I contact if I would like to change my status from a full-time student to a part-time student or vice versa?

 

A: You should contact the Office of Academic Affairs if you would like to change your student status.

 

 

Q: How many credits do I need to graduate?

 

A: In order graduate 86 credits are required.

 

 

Q: How many residence credits are required in order to graduate?

 

A: In order to be certified for the degree of Juris Doctor and to sit for the Bar Exam, students in the full-time day division must complete a minimum of 90 weeks in residence. Completing six semesters with a minimum of 12 credits each semester will result in a total of 90 weeks (15 weeks per semester). Part-time and evening students must complete a minimum of 120 weeks in residence. Completing eight semesters with a minimum of 8 credits each semester will result in a total of 120 weeks (15 per semester).

 

Q: Can I visit out or enroll for courses at another law school and what are the procedures?

 

A: Yes, you may take classes at another law school. However, you must contact the Office of Academic Affairs for prior approval.

 

 

Q: Can I obtain a copy of my LSAT record or immunization record?

 

A:  A copy of either your LSAT record or immunization record can be given to you by simply submitting such request to the Registrar’s Office. Please complete “General Request Form” located outside of the office.

 

 

 

Q: Where do I go to resolve exam conflicts?

 

A: If you have an exam conflict and would like to request that your exams times be moved, you should contact the Office of Academic Affairs. They will try their best to accommodate your request within reason.
