The ESA has gathered together this collection of useful web sites for law school students.  The below is by no means intended to be a complete listing of what is out there, but rather a mere sampling of what we have found to be most interesting and/or useful.  If you have any suggestions or find one of the below links is no longer functional please feel free to e-mail us at esa@nyls.edu.

Validity of U.S. News Rankings:  A report assessing "The Validity of the U.S. News and World Report Law School Rankings."  This site is definitely worth reading if you are concerned about school ranking and statistics.

www.cali.org:  An excellent place to work on skills with the aid of interactive exercises.  Many of the programs on this site are very basic, but some are worthwhile.

www.findlaw.com:  This is a good general all around legal reference site.

www.law-competitions.com:  This is an excellent international listing of writing competitions related to the law created by the University of Westminster.

www.hg.org/students.html:  This is another good general reference site for law students and those considering law school.

www.lawbookshop.com:  This is an online store for the purchasing of textbooks.  Sometimes with  substantial discount from what items are retailing at in "bricks and mortar" bookstores.

www.barristerbooks.com:  This is another online store for the purchasing of textbooks.  Sometimes with a substantial discount from what items are retailing at in "bricks and mortar" bookstores.

Old & Still of Interest:  This is a somewhat outdated reference site for law students, but still worth examining briefly.

www.law.com:  This is another good legal reference site, which has current news and other legal resources.

New York Country Lawyer's Association:  Joining this association will allow you to receive their mailings as well as access their facilities in lower Manhattan and attend events they sponsor in the legal community.

The New York State Bar Association:  Allows law students to join and gain access to their web site services as well as various mailings sent to members.  You can also access www.loislaw.com by becoming a member of the NYSBA, which is definitely worth doing if you do not have access to Lexis or Westlaw.

jurispda.com:  A web site designed and created by members of the NYLS community.  An excellent site for resources related to hand-held computers including a tremendous number of helpful resources for law students.

Lexis:  Obviously a good place to do online research once you are given a password.  However, even prior to that time you should be accessing the free commercial outlines available here.

Westlaw:  Obviously a good place to do online research once you are given a password.  However, even prior to that time you should be accessing the free commercial outlines available here.
