NEW EMAIL SYSTEM AND NAMING CONVENTION FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS
On July 1, the Law School will launch our new portal (an electronic information system that combines our internet, intranet and EZInfo systems with a single sign-on), along with a new email system for students (Microsoft Live). In June, we will provide detailed information about the portal and email system, which provide personalized content and a platform for group communication.
We wanted to give you a heads-up now about the upcoming email changes. Here’s a quick summary of what you can expect:
- The email naming convention will change for continuing students as of July 1.
If your personal email address will not follow this convention because of duplicate names, you will be
notified individually.
- Your personal storage capacity for email will increase from 50 megabytes (MB) to 5 gigabytes (GB).
- You will be able to access your email from anywhere.
- You will have the ability to: forward your NYLS emails to an external account, search for emails within your account, create contact lists, and share files.
- You may keep this email address for life.
As of July 1, your “old” emails will be transferred to the new system. While you will not lose any content, you will lose whatever folder system you have set up. Emails sent to your old address will automatically be forwarded to your new address for six months.
Members of the class of 2008 will retain their current New York Law School email address until the alumni section of the portal is launched in Phase II, scheduled for Spring 2009. At that time we will announce the naming convention for graduates.
We will be back in touch with additional information in a few weeks. In the meantime, please contact Helena Prigal with questions at hprigal@nyls.edu. Best of luck on exams!
