Profile
Mr. Bechen is experienced in a variety of intellectual property matters including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and preparing patent validity and infringement opinions. He has expertise in patent litigation and trademark prosecution matters. His work focuses primarily on clients in the telecommunications and computer industries, including software, hardware and graphics processing environments. He has also provided counsel on business-based methodologies, voice recognition systems, optical disc encoding systems, electronic program guides
and digital video recorders.
Prior to joining Dreier LLP, Mr. Bechen was an associate at the intellectual property law firm, Kenyon & Kenyon LLP in New York. Mr. Bechen received a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Iowa in 1997 and was one of the first students to graduate with a Certificate of Technical Entrepreneurship. Prior to graduation, he started his own not-for-profit Internet based company. Mr. Bechen received his law degree and a Master's degree in Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2000. Mr. Bechen is a member of the Bar of the State of Illinois and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
