The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid is pleased to be able to provide you with a more streamlined process to apply for financial aid for your educational expenses.
For consideration for all types of financial aid available, you must file the 2013-14 FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, 2013. The FAFSA is available on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you applied for financial aid in 2012-13, you may be able to use a Renewal FAFSA. The Renewal FAFSA is pre-filled with data that may not have changed from the previous year (such as the demographic information). Financial information that changes from year to year (AGI, taxes paid, asset information, etc.) will need to be added. Renewal applicants automatically receive PIN’ s if they filed on line in 2012-13, or made corrections to their 2012-13 FAFSA on line. If you have not received your PIN or you cannot remember your PIN, go to www.pin.ed.gov and your PIN will be e-mailed to you within 1 to 5 days. Please be sure to include New York Law School’s code “G02783” and your housing plans when completing the FAFSA.
The processed FAFSA transmission will generate a Student Aid Report (SAR) which you will receive and have the opportunity to review, correct, update and respond to as required. This information is automatically sent to New York Law School providing you included the correct school code. More information regarding completion of the FAFSA (or Renewal FAFSA) can be found at http://studentaid.ed.gov. Don’t wait! The priority deadline for filing the FAFSA is April 1, 2013.
The Department of Education randomly selects students in a process called Verification. If you are selected for Verification, you will be notified on your SAR. You will be required to submit to the Office of Financial Aid, a signed copy of your (and your spouse's) 2012 tax return (with all schedules attached), W-2 forms, and may be required to submit a completed Verification Worksheet. New York Law School will automatically inform you of required additional documentation if you are selected. Individuals selected for Verification have 30 days to provide the required documentation. Failure to meet the deadline may result in ineligibility for federal student aid.
If you wish to be considered for New York Law School need-based aid, you must also complete the parents' section of the FAFSA..
