Event Details

The Family Law Quarterly (FLQ) is a leading and prestigious family law-focused scholarly journal. The American Bar Association and New York Law School publish it collaboratively. Service as a Junior or Senior Editor or on the Executive Board of the FLQ is considered a significant academic honor and is regarded highly by employers.

NYLS student FLQ editors:
• Edit articles written by leading authorities on family law topics, including checking factual accuracy and reviewing the citations for proper Bluebook format;
• Research state laws and update charts analyzing changes in family law statutes across the 50 states, and
• Research and write summaries of new family law legislation.

Students work in teams, participate in student-led meetings and seminars, and can earn two to four credits a year depending on the position.

Participation is a key way to enhance your editing, research, legal analysis, and writing skills; to become immersed in current issues in family law; to have the chance to write and potentially be published on a family law topic; and to contribute to a prestigious family law publication with a national audience.

Application period:
Friday, March 31, 2023–Tuesday, April 11, 2023
