Impacting many aspects of our everyday lives, A.I. is everywhere—from healthcare to financial services to marketing to entertainment. To train the A.I. and machine learning systems in their commercial products, businesses and companies use vast amounts of data obtained from third-party providers or are generated internally. But obtaining and using such data creates many legal issues, like rights to the data, use restrictions, and privacy.
In her lecture, Nicole Spence ’08, Counsel (Data & AI) at IBM, will discuss how tech companies use data to train their A.I. models and machine learning systems and describe some of the legal issues involved in A.I. and data.
