To prevent the financial services industry from taking excessive risks that can lead to economic crises, the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010 set new requirements for firms to identify, monitor, and manage risks associated with new investments and products. But failures in risk management continue to make headlines—even in new areas, such as digital assets. In her lecture, Robin Meister ’86 will describe the essential elements of risk management, discuss recent cases of failure in this area, and identify a framework to protect firms and their clients.
Robin Meister ‘86 is Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School, serves as an independent director for a NASDAQ-listed fintech company as well as a private family of funds for a California-based government pension plan, and was formerly the Global Head of Regulatory Affairs for BNP Paribas Asset Management.
