At its core, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office functions as a local prosecutor, but its location in the capital of the world brings it a vast array of criminal cases, including those in the fast-growing area of financial cybercrimes.
James Vinocur ’08—the Deputy Chief of the Cybercrimes and Identity Theft Bureau in the Manhattan DA’s Office—will give an overview of his bureau; discuss the different types of and trends in financial cybercrimes prosecuted by his office; talk about recent cases; and examine whether current laws are keeping up with financial cybercrimes.
