Billions in assets are now owned by online communities known as decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). DAOs serve numerous purposes such as maintaining software protocols, funding projects, and investing in art. DAOs lack traditional hierarchies and operate according to blockchain-based rules and tokenized governance systems.
