Sandra Krevitsky Janin joined the New York Law School faculty full time as a Professor of Legal Writing and Assistant Director of the Writing Program in the fall semester of 2003.
Professor Janin comes to NYLS with more than two decades of experience serving as appellate counsel to major litigation firms. She began her legal career at Weinstein, Chayt & Bard, PC, where she served as appellate counsel to leading plaintiffs’ and defendants’ personal injury litigation law firms. She set up her own practice in 1984 and remained a solo practitioner until joining the School’s faculty.
Professor Janin previously taught at NYLS as an adjunct professor of legal research and writing from 1989 to 1993, and from 1997 to 2003.
Professor Janin has lectured on topics such as appellate practice, civil practice, and medical malpractice at the Nassau Academy of Law, the Practising Law Institute, the Metropolitan Women’s Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. Since 1979, she has delivered an annual lecture, “Pleadings, Venue, Forum Nonconveniens,” for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association’s Decisions program.
Professor Janin is the co-author of the book The New York Law of Medical Malpractice. She has also been published in the Journal of Insurance, New York Law Journal, and Trial Lawyers Quarterly. She is the recipient of a service award as chairwoman of the Women’s Law Forum from the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
