Profile
Tracy J. Weinstein, a New York Law School alum, began her career as a civil litigator where she handled all phases of cases from intake through appeals. While working at several mid-sized firms, she gained extensive first-hand practical experience and represented both, plaintiffs and defendants. Professor Weinstein's clientele ranged from individuals to major corporations. She is currently serving as a term federal law clerk in the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York.
Professor Weinstein is a founding member of the New York City Bar Association’s Mindfulness and Well-Being in Law Committee. A former Division I collegiate lacrosse player, she makes it a priority to maintain physical and mental balance now that she is off the field and in the office, courtroom, and classroom. As a Committee member, Professor Weinstein helps plan and present webinars and other events about well-being practices for lawyers and law students.
At NYLS, Professor Weinstein teaches Legal Practice I and Legal Practice II to first-year students. Her focus in this practical course is on connecting abstract concepts to reality so that students immediately begin to develop real-world skills. She prioritizes getting students outside of their comfort zones to build their confidence, and maintains elements of mindfulness through her teaching.
