(2019 Otto L. Walter Lecture) A Justice’s Reflections on the European Court of Human Rights in the 21st Century

SPEAKER:

András Sajó is a retired judge and former Vice President of the European Court of Human Rights, where he served for nearly a decade. He was the founding dean of the law program at Central European University (CEU) and currently teaches as a professor at CEU, which is located in Budapest. An expert in human rights, Professor Sajó is also one of the world’s most prominent constitutionalists.

LECTURE CHAIR:

Ruti G. Teitel is the Ernst C. Stiefel Professor of Comparative Law at New York Law School; Director of its Center for International Law and the Institute for Global Law, Justice, and Policy; and author of Globalizing Transitional Justice (Oxford University Press, 2014).
