(MLK Week of Action) Impact Today Lunch Series: Defending Activists

January 23 @ 12:50 pm - 1:50 pm

Impact Today! is a lunchtime series hosted by the Impact Center for Public Interest Law. The series highlights how current events impact civil rights and civil liberties.

DEFENDING ACTIVISTS: BRINGING PROTEST INTO THE COURTROOM

Political protest has always carried with it the risk of arrest and prosecution. Martin Stolar, a criminal defense attorney and former president of the NYC chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, will speak about his 50-year career defending political activists. He will be joined by David Suker, a former client and NYC teacher who was arrested as part of Occupy protests.

Lunch will be served. This event is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Co-presented by the NYLS chapter of the National Lawyers Guild and the NYLS Criminal Law Association.
