Terrorism threatens and violates human rights. Since 2001, the U.N. Security Council has called on all nations to adopt measures – economic, legal, and political – that not only fight terrorism but also protect human rights, including the rights to due process, expression, judicial review, and principles such as legality and non-discrimination.
Edward J. Flynn, the Senior Human Rights Officer of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), will discuss the work of CTED in helping nations fight terrorism as they comply with their human rights obligations.
