(Lunch Lecture) Killer Robots: Legal and Ethical Implications

February 5 @ 12:45 pm1:45 pm

Rapid advances in technology could one day allow weapon systems to select and kill targets on their own with little or no human input. But should such fully automated systems be used in combat? Can these killer robots comply with the laws of war, take reasonable precautions, and remain accountable?

Peter Asaro, Associate Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in the School of Media Studies at The New School, will discuss autonomous weapons and their implications on ethics, human rights, and international law.
