The Racial Justice Project invites you to join us for a conversation with Professor Terry Smith, a labor law and voting rights scholar. In his recently released book titled, “Whitelash: Unmasking White Grievance at the Ballot Box,” Professor Smith presents a unique legal perspective on white voter behavior in elections. He argues: if public and private institutions are not allowed, by law, to discriminate on the basis of race why are we allowing white voters to discriminate through their political choices during elections?Professor Smith will join students and NYLS faculty to discuss how such racialized decision-making is unlawful and the remedies that exist to deter this seemingly illicit behavior.
Pizza will be served.
This event is open to all NYLS students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
