Professor Ari Ezra Waldman, Director of New York Law School’s Innovation Center for Law and Technology, is one of four academics named as a 2019–20 Belfer Fellow by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Center for Technology and Society. He is the only law professor to be named this year.
The ADL’s Belfer Fellowship, now in its second year, funds research related to cyberharassment and other critical challenges at the intersection of civil rights, society, and technology.
The fellowship’s focus aligns with Professor Waldman’s area of expertise: As Director of NYLS’s Innovation Center, he launched the nation’s first law school clinic to combat cyberharassment. His research and writing focus on privacy, technology and society, hate and harassment on the internet, and online social networks. He is also frequently quoted in the mainstream media on related issues.
As a Belfer Fellow, Professor Waldman will undertake important research on technology-driven harassment. He will also participate in policy work, coalition-building, research, and writing through the ADL’s Center for Technology and Society.
