How to Apply

A decision to earn a legal education is rewarding. We are pleased that you are considering New York Law School (NYLS) as a place to study law. The Admissions team is eager to work with you every step of the way and have provided you with a check list to get your application started. Please note, all candidates for J.D. admission must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university, or the foreign equivalent.

check mark Prepare and register for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)

check mark Complete a NYLS application—it’s FREE!

check mark Along with your application you are also required to submit the following:

  • Personal Statement (2 pages maximum)
  • Résumé
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (minimum 1, maximum 3)
  • Supporting documents if you answered affirmatively on the character and fitness portion in the application.

check mark Once your application is submitted and received by NYLS, you will receive an email from our office, confirming receipt and providing you with information on how to log-in and check the status of your application.

You are welcome to check the status of your application at any time. In addition, all decisions will be communicated through our online status checker. Once you have been admitted, a separate username and password will be provided to you in order to access our admitted student portal.
