Careers

NYLS’s Office of Academic Planning and Career Development provides law students with tailored guidance beginning in the first semester of school and continuing well beyond graduation.

Careers

No institutional goal is more fundamental than preparing students for their careers and helping them succeed as they launch their professional lives.

New York Law School’s Office of Academic Planning and Career Development provides law students with tailored guidance beginning in the first semester of school and continuing well beyond graduation.

We help students with all aspects of their careers, from polishing résumés and preparing for interviews to negotiating salaries and developing a professional network. We also connect alumni to resources and work hand-in-glove with a wide range of legal employers. Our team has varied legal experience and expertise in public interest and government, large firms, judicial clerkships, and alternative legal careers to help students find the opportunities that will best position them to achieve their career goals.

A Commitment to Diversity

The Office of Academic Planning and Career Development is committed to seeking out and promoting career opportunities for students from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the legal community. Our Office promotes diversity in the profession by connecting current students and alumni with fellowships, internships, job fairs, diverse professional associations, and cultural and social events. One-on-one counseling is available to help students take full advantage of these opportunities, build networks, and develop the professional skills that will ensure future success.

Diversity-related employment opportunities, events, and bar associations are listed in the Career Resources section of the NYLS Portal.
