Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
As “New York’s law school,” we are committed to ensuring that our institution reflects the diversity and excellence for which New York is known.
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion supports students, administration and staff, faculty, and alumni in addressing all aspects of diversity, with a focus on underrepresented communities and military veterans.
Pre-Law Pipeline Programs
In 2019, NYLS launched its Summer Pre-Law Program for college students. The School is developing an additional pipeline program for working professionals.
The goal of the programs is to provide individuals from underrepresented populations with a dedicated set of opportunities to explore the law and create a pathway to earn their J.D. degrees at NYLS.
Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65 Honors Scholars Program
The Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65 Honors Scholars Program paves the way for women to attend law school through a fully funded scholarship, book stipend, and more for each scholar.
This program is made possible by a historic gift from Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65.
Get to know our faculty, students, and alumni, and see how they’re advancing diversity within our institution and the community.
About the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
From application through graduation and admission to the bar, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion helps diverse students fully engage in the academic programs, student and career services, and opportunities offered by NYLS. For students, this means providing an educational environment that educates, challenges, and develops the knowledge, values, cultural competency, and professional skills needed to become a 21st century attorney, prepared to serve in an increasingly global workplace.
The Office partners with diverse alumni, affinity bar associations, and other advocacy organizations to expand opportunities, so that every student and employee can succeed and exceed their expectations.
