Upcoming CLE Events

Founded in 1996 with funding from the Starr Foundation, the Center sponsors conferences and symposia that bring together leaders and public figures to discuss timely topics in international law. The Center also provides internship opportunities, career forums, and other resources.

For Students

All New York Law School students are welcome to join the Center as affiliates. Those who share a strong interest in international law, seek to better understand how global developments impact legal practice worldwide, and wish to explore professional development opportunities within the field are encouraged to apply.

Events

The Center is a forum for world leaders, professionals, academics, and students to be part of current events and issues in the field of international law.

Students can apply to compete in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, the oldest and largest international moot competition in the world. In recent years, the competition has drawn participants from around 700 law schools in more than 90 countries.

Its event series include the C.V. Starr Lectures and the Otto L. Walter Lectures. Through past Center events, NYLS has welcomed esteemed speakers such as United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon; Miguel de Serpa Soares, the Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and United Nations Legal Counsel; Nobel Prize winner Eric Kandel; the Director of Legal Affairs of the World Trade Organization; the General Counsel of Human Rights Watch; the first Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court; and a former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. These events have garnered coverage in The New York Times, the Journal of Commerce, the National Law Journal, the International Securities Regulation Report, Eurowatch, and C-SPAN.
