The Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65 Honors Scholars Program paves the way for women to attend law school through a fully funded scholarship, book stipend, and more for each scholar.

The Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65 Honors Scholars Program creates substantial new opportunities for women to attend law school and become leaders in the legal profession. This program is set to begin with the fall 2022 entering class, and is made possible by a historic gift from television icon and NYLS alumna Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65. Scholars will receive a full-tuition scholarship, a book stipend, and a 1L summer employment fellowship. The full-tuition scholarship is renewable through graduation.

NYLS works in partnership with nonprofit Her Honor Mentoring, a community of more than 1,700 mentees and mentors founded by Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65 and her daughter, Nicole Sheindlin ’93. Her Honor Mentoring provides opportunities for young women to explore different career paths, gain professional skills, and expand their network.

Through the partnership, NYLS will engage Her Honor Mentoring’s mentees, who can take part in our Pre-Law Pipeline Program. Participants in Her Honor Mentoring can benefit from the services offered by NYLS’s Pipeline, like law-related classwork and projects, pre-law counseling, free professional LSAT preparation, and application assistance, with the goal of mentees applying to NYLS for admission and consideration for the Judge Judy Sheindlin ’65 Honors Scholars Program, based on their credentials.

Together, NYLS and Her Honor Mentoring offers programming for both communities, including speaker events, law student shadowing days, and law student mentoring.
