Intellectual Property Licensing and Drafting

This course provides an intensive and comprehensive study of intellectual property licensing and related contract drafting issues. Students will analyze and draft various trademark, copyright, patent and/or other intellectual property licenses and assignments, and will develop related negotiation skills and strategies. The course also will cover antitrust limits on licensing. The focus will be practical and will show how value can be created in intellectual property assets through licensing across a variety of industries. Students will work in teams doing hands-on exercises in the area of intellectual property of greatest interest to them.

This upper-level practice-oriented course is focused on intellectual property licensing and related contract drafting issues.

Taking one of the following courses before or in the same semester may be helpful: Copyrights; Intellectual Property; Patent Law; Trademarks and Unfair Competition.
