Clerkships101 will feature a panel of former clerks and judicial interns who will share their experiences and offer guidance on tailoring résumés for applications. The event will include a Q&A session and provide an opportunity for attendees to network directly with the speakers.
Rodger Quigley ’17 is an associate in the Restructuring & Finance Litigation Department at Herrick Feinstein LLP. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, restructuring, and bankruptcy matters. He represents private and public companies, hedge funds, debtors, creditors, healthcare companies, and insurance entities. Before joining Herrick, Rodger was a law clerk for Hon. Joel H. Slomsky of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. While in law school, Rodger was Editor in Chief of the New York Law School Law Review.
Nelson O. Melgar Martinez ’23 is an associate in the Insurance and Reinsurance Coverage practice at London Fischer LLP. At NYLS, he was the Federal Bar Association’s founding president and the first Latino and Evening Division student to serve as Student Bar Association President. As a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient, Nelson was unable to clerk for a federal judge, but secured a judicial internship through the Just the Beginning organization. Nelson interned for Hon. Alan S. Trust, Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Michael J. Sutnick ’25 is a 3L at NYLS. After graduating from Penn State in 2019, Michael joined the Peace Corps, serving in Manatí and Colombia and working with Venezuelan refugees. During his 1L summer, Michael interned at the King’s County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, gaining hands-on experience in the felony trial bureau. The following fall, Michael was a judicial intern for Hon. Edward S. Kiel of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. This summer, Michael worked as a summer associate for Scarinci Hollenbeck, LLC in New Jersey.
