This event provides a comprehensive look at modern criminal discovery, connecting both practice and policy. The first panel focuses on how discovery works in real cases, with practitioners explaining current obligations and challenges in day-to-day litigation. The second panel broadens the discussion to the policy behind recent reforms, exploring their impact and the ongoing debate over fairness, efficiency, and public safety. Together, the panels give students both a practical understanding of discovery and insight into its future direction.
This event is hosted by the Criminal Law Society, a NYLS student organization, and co-sponsored by the Wilf Impact Center for Public Interest Law, the Criminal Justice Institute, and the Center for Justice Innovation.
