Children have a unique (and often challenging) role in family law proceedings. In child custody matters and other proceedings where a child is the subject, parental rights and the child’s welfare may be at odds. Yet, our courts recognize that the child’s best interests must prevail.
As part of an hour-long discussion, the panelists will explore the issues affecting children and child custody in family law litigation in both the private and public sectors. They will also discuss how practitioners secure outcomes that best safeguard children and families. An hour-long networking reception will follow, where current students will have an opportunity to discuss the practical application of family law with the panelists and NYLS alumni.
