Commercializing research-based inventions and bringing technologies from a medical school environment into the marketplace raise several legal and business challenges. Dr. Lisa Placanica will provide an overview of the business and legal considerations when commercializing, licensing, and managing new biomedical discoveries emanating from a medical school environment.
Lisa Placanica, Ph.D., is Senior Managing Director of the Center for Technology Licensing at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) where she manages a group of 30+ professionals and oversees WCM’s activities in technology management, marketing, licensing, and outreach to support Cornell’s goals in commercializing technology by promoting startups.
