Medical liability and regulation is an area of law that requires an understanding of technology and established protocols in the medical field. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), the field of medicine is changing and raising new issues. Join Steven Pegalis ‘65, Adam Herbst, and Shahrokh (Seve) Falati ’08 as they discuss their work in this field and their recent article on AI. 

Steven E. Pegalis ’65 is one of the nation’s foremost plaintiffs’ medical malpractice trial lawyers. In his long career, Pegalis has obtained some of the highest jury verdicts in New York State. He is a Dean Emeritus of the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute, and author of the three-volume text The American Law of Medical Malpractice. He was named the 2024 “Lawyer of the Year” by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Lawyers® for both Plaintiffs’ Medical Malpractice Law and Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Litigation for the Long Island, New York, region.

Adam S. Herbst, Esq. is Deputy Commissioner at the New York State Department of Health. He is also an adjunct professor at NYLS.
