Denim Day originated from public outrage over a 1998 court ruling that denied a victim’s rape under the presumption that she helped her assaulter remove the jeans she was wearing when she was assaulted.

Nelsy Rodriguez, the Senior Violence Prevention Specialist at Wyckoff Hospital’s Violence Intervention and Treatment Program, will be available to discuss issues surrounding the prevention of sexual assault, the significance of Denim Day, and to provide information on the hospital’s survivor advocacy volunteer program in the Wyckoff Hospital Emergency Room.

Wear denim in solidarity. Stop by to say hello, to help counter victim blaming and misconceptions about sexual assault, and to learn strategies to keep our communities safe.
