Journalist Tristram Korten will discuss his yearlong investigation into the wrongful conviction of Thomas James, a now-exonerated man who was serving a life sentence for a murder he didn’t commit. Professor Brandt Goldstein will moderate, and Professor Adele Bernhard will discuss how this story relates to the work of the Post-Conviction Innocence Clinic (PCIC) at New York Law School.

Tristram Korten is an author and journalist whose work has appeared in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Outside, Smithsonian, and many other publications. His nonfiction book Into the Storm was published by Random House in 2018.

This event is co-sponsored by the Wilf Impact Center for Public Interest Law, the Criminal Justice Institute, and the NYLS student chapter of the American Constitution Society.
