Profile

David M. Epstein has been a faculty member at New York Law School since 1991. He currently teaches Evidence, Legal Practice, and Drafting: Contracts. During his law school career, he also taught Legal Reasoning, Writing and Research and Principles of Legal Analysis as well as upper-level electives. He has also served as NYLS’s research specialist, aiding students with their basic legal research skills.

Professor Epstein is the author of the fourth edition of the seven-volume Eckstrom’s Licensing in Foreign and Domestic Operations and the co-author of the New York Evidence Courtroom Manual. He is also the co-author of the Teacher’s Handbook to The Lawyer’s Craft.

In 1995, Professor Epstein opened his private practice in Old Bethpage, New York. As a solo practitioner, he focused on commercial, criminal, and appellate practice.

Professor Epstein began his career as an editorial director at Matthew Bender & Company, Inc., where he developed a program to improve the writing and editing skills of the company’s attorneys. He became recognized during this time for his expertise in the civil procedure, evidence, trade regulation, antitrust, and communications areas of law.
