Legal Research: Corporate/Business Law

This course presents an in-depth review of practical research skills reinforcing the importance of knowing how to find and interpret statutes, administrative regulations, cases, and secondary sources, including practice materials (e.g., forms, pleadings, court rules). The course helps students refine research skills, learn shortcuts, and develop cost-effective and efficient research strategies for corporate/business law related projects. Class sessions integrate the use of print resources with internet and subscription online services through which students learn more sophisticated and responsible search practices.

This class builds on fundamental research skills and developing effective research strategies. The research assignments and exercises focus on corporate/business law issues. Students are also introduced to specialized sources and research tools designed for and used by corporate/business law practitioners.
