Religious Freedom and Gender: International Standards and Best Practices in Times of Political Polarization
Drawing examples from various international and national jurisdictions, this upper-level seminar course explores the interplay between religious freedom and gender in different contexts: bioethics, family and marriage, conscientious objection, LGBTQ+ rights, employment, religious and anti-religious speech, and security issues. Students will spend some time exploring the politicization of religious freedom and gender equality, as well as touch upon strategies countering the politicization of human rights. Substantial original research papers are required.
