ABA Family Law Quarterly – Editorial Staff

The Family Law Quarterly (FLQ) is the American Bar Association Family Law Section’s scholarly journal. It is dedicated to publishing articles written by legal academics and practitioners about important and timely legal issues for family law practitioners, judges, professors, and more.

In this co-curricular course, NYLS students are responsible for editing and source-checking each article that is selected for publication in the FLQ. They are also responsible for researching and updating charts of state family law-related statutes, and preparing digests of important decisions and/or family law-related legal scholarship. This course will help students hone their skills in editing, grammar, research, drafting, and citation. It will also help them develop leadership skills. In the first year of the course, all students will attend a seminar that will review relevant family law concepts, legal research, editing, citation, and other skills related to FLQ participation.
